Stevens is in the metropolitan New York area. Our campus is located on the Hudson River directly across from midtown Manhattan. The public transportation system is very reliable. See the Locations tab.

Airlines:

 

If you are coming by plane, try to schedule your flight for Newark Airport rather than JFK or LaGuardia. Newark is about twenty minutes by taxi; to save money, you can take the “Airlink” bus to Penn Station in Newark. From there take the PATH (subway) train to Exchange Place and switch to the Hoboken train; on week-ends and weekdays midnight to 6 a.m. switch at Grove Street rather than Exchange Place. When you get out of the PATH station in Hoboken, walk north on River Street seven blocks (one of them through a small park) to 6th and River (northeast corner: Morton-Peirce-Kidde building). It’s a short taxi ride from the PATH station if you would prefer to ride rather than walk.

Train:

 

Either Grand Central Station or Penn Station in Manhattan would be convenient. Then take the PATH train (the subway line that connects Hoboken and Manhattan) to the campus. The nearest PATH station for both Grand Central and Penn Station is at 6th Avenue and 33rd Street. This is one block east of Penn Station and several blocks southwest of Grand Central. When you leave the PATH station in Hoboken, walk north on River Street seven blocks (one of them through a small park) to 6th and River (northeast corner: Morton-Peirce-Kidde building). It’s a short taxi ride from the PATH station if you would prefer not to walk.

Bus:

 

The Port Authority terminal in Manhattan is the most convenient. From Port Authority, take a Hoboken bus (#126) to Washington and 6th Streets. We are two blocks east (northeast corner of 6th and River: Morton-Peirce-Kidde Building). The fare is currently $3.20; the bus does not give change, but accepts change and dollar bills.

Subway:

 

The subway line that serves Hoboken is called the PATH, which stops in Manhattan at 6th Avenue and 33rd, 23rd, 14th, and 9th Streets. There is one final stop (Christopher Street) before the train crosses under the river into Hoboken. Make sure you take the Hoboken (not the Journal Square or Newark) train, marked HOB. When you leave the PATH station in Hoboken, walk north on River Street seven blocks (one of them through a small park) to 6th and River (northeast corner: Morton-Peirce-Kidde building). It’s a short taxi ride from the PATH station if you would prefer not to walk. The one-way fare for the PATH is currently $2.25.

Car:

 

Given that Stevens in centrally located, it is easiest to reach campus through the West Side Highway in Manhattan, the Lincoln Tunnel, the Holland Tunnel, I-78, I-280, and other major routes. Take any one of these to Hoboken. The main street here is called Washington Street, and it will probably be very congested with many pedestrians and many double-parked cars. Washington runs north-south. If you are traveling south on Washington, turn left onto 5th Street; if you are traveling north, turn right onto 5th. Go two blocks and turn left. You are now on River Street. Parking on the street is, however, limited to four hours for everyone except Hoboken residents. There are metered parking spaces on Washington and adjacent streets, but the meters have to be fed every hour-and-a-half. There are parking garages on Hudson (the street that runs parallel to Washington Street one block east).
